The Educa Students’ Association app is now live. Educa is the students’ association for all teacher training programmes at Utrecht University of Applied Sciences and brings together students from the various programmes. The year’s programme ranges from monthly socials and activities such as bowling and laser tag to workshops on the subject and the IDEA induction camp. The association is run by a series of committees, ranging from the parties committee to the travel committee.
Three features of the app stand out in particular:
- Almanac — all of Educa’s classes are listed in the app. Classes made up of teacher trainees: this is a new feature within Youmie.
- Rules in the ‘More’ menu — the association’s rules are permanently displayed in the menu, so members can look them up whenever they want.
- Targeted push notifications — a message can be sent to a specific class or to a group of members with a shared characteristic, such as a year group. This ensures members only receive information intended for them.
For an association organised by class and course, this reduces clutter. Youmie builds member apps for student associations that currently have to reach their members via general mailing lists and group chats, with push notifications that can be targeted by class or year group. For Educa, the association is now fully integrated into the app.
