Ibn Battuta’s induction weekend is taking place on Ameland, and you can register via the app this year. The Faculty Association of the Faculty of Spatial Sciences in Groningen was founded in 1961 and brings together students on the Bachelor’s programme in Spatial Sciences with those on the faculty’s Master’s programmes. The year’s programme is organised by more than ten committees, ranging from excursions and Career Day to winter sports and the lustrum. The society communicates in English and Dutch.
Three features stand out:
- Partners — the association highlights its partners in a dedicated section of the app. This way, the app offers added value.
- Registering for events — members sign up for activities via the app, such as the induction weekend to Ameland.
- Noticeboard — summaries and books are shared via a timeline on the noticeboard from one student to another.
With members spread across a bachelor’s programme and several master’s programmes, it’s helpful to have registrations and information all in one place. Youmie builds member apps for faculty associations and study associations that currently manage their registrations and partner communications via email, separate forms and social media, providing a dedicated partner section and registration facilities within the app. For Ibn Battuta, this starts straight away with the induction weekend.
