We have been happily building Minerva's apps since 2016. A very nice collaboration in which we continue to expand the app every year based on member feedback and new insights.
Minerva is the oldest student association in the Netherlands, founded in 1814. The association approached us to help think about a new app for their members and reunions. The Minerva board's goal is for the app to become the digital hub of the association, the social hub for its more than 2,000 members. The iOS app was an instant success in 2018 with impressive user statistics, and since 2024 the Android app has also been launched!
The app for Minerva includes many of the features made possible by Youmie technology. Some great features highlighted below.
Freshmen can register for events organised by the corps houses during the intro week or hospiteer module.
The apps include an advanced 'rooms reservation' module. Through the app, members can book the various rooms in the society.
Through the app, members can order items from the shop and liquor store. Orders enter the backend of the app where they can be completed.
Members of Minerva who make the switch to reunionist do not have to delete the beloved app. As soon as their status changes in the member administration, they can no longer access the member section, but will be given direct access to the reunionist section. This part of the app is hermetically sealed off from the members' area and provides Minerva's reunionists with a platform to stay in touch with each other and keep abreast of what is happening at the society.
Apart from looking nice, the lustrum section is full of useful features. A big countdown to the festive start of lustrum slowly gets everyone in the mood. Furthermore, members and reunion members can see all events in a handy calendar overview and can see maps of various locations where the festivities will take place. Photo albums can be uploaded, members can be updated on the latest news with the news module, and there is even an in-app shop where all merchandise can be sold!
In the Minerva app, members and reunions have their own protected environment in the app. In some cases, however, there is great added value to be gained in bringing these two groups together. In 'Minerva Works', reunionists can offer job vacancies for internships, side jobs or other career opportunities.
Together with Minerva, we are constantly looking for how to make the app more valuable and fun. One of the things that has been on the wish list for some time is an in-app manager. This feature allows you to manage content from within the app itself with the main advantage that logging in via laptop in the CMS (Youmie's management software) for the most important things is no longer necessary. So you can manage groups, post news and send push notifications to groups from within the app!

We’re launching the app for the Verbeternetwerk! The network for organisational improvement professionals uses the app in its own house style, featuring an overview of all members by sector or region and news in short posts. This helps members find each other more quickly and ensures everyone stays up to date with the latest developments.

We’re launching the app for Cercle l’Union! The club uses the membership list, event registration via Congressus and a clear layout. This means members can find each other quickly, everyone knows in advance who will be attending an event, and the committee can keep track of everything without the need for separate lists.

We’re launching the app for the U.S.R. Triton rowing club! Like many clubs, U.S.R. Triton will be making full use of Youmie’s features. As a result, communication, boat bookings, payments and internal organisation are now all managed through a single central platform, making things clearer for members and a lot easier for the committee.
